What’s wrong with my laptop now?

Sunday Jan 24, 2010

My anti virus protection shut down a year ago, and really..I’ve been fine! No pop ups, no viruses, nothing..It was rare that I would get a pop up saying that my computer was infected and needed a scan, but I just assumed it to be a phishing link or something. I Have a fujituso laptop I downloaded over 1000 songs, and none of them have given my computer problems. I can’t remember anything I did that could have provoked this. It’s 5:31 now..At 2:30, and I record this time because I was using the computer.. Out of nowhere, I get this Antivirus software alert on the side of my computer that says
"infiltration alert: Your computer is being attacked by an internet virus. It could be a password stealing attack, a trojan- dropped or smaller. Details: Attack from: 160.172.217.50 port 40882. Attacked port: 16820. Threat: BankerFox.A" It asks if I want to block this attack. I keep clicking no, but it keeps popping up..
The last time I clicked yes, a lot of pop ups came up that automatically shut down my whole computer within seconds..This isn’t the only problem..

A spyware alert pop up that just won’t go away, and won’t move keeps coming up telling me my computer has been infiltrated. Also, the most annoying pop up that won’t stop is a security warning that says "Application cannot be executed. The file googletalkplugin.exe is infected. Do you want to activate your antivirus software now?"
Then the windows security centers popping up, but I can’t activate my anti-virus without buying it. But that’s the thing. I can’t buy it. I can’t pay any money, its expensive. It want’s 40 dollars! My parents would be pissed if I bought it.

What the hell is going on? How do I fix this? Grr!! Also, Although I USE firefox only, Internet explorer webpages keep popping up. They’re advertisements for Viagra and some website called PORN.com, and some erectile dysfunction crap.
I’m trying to back up my files, but it’s taking a very long time, and I don’t know how much time my computer will last before shutting off like it did before. I don’t want to send it in to someone yet, as my computer is STILL on, and is still capable of being turned on. At first, I’d just like to examine the situation, and see if its possible for me to fix this myself.
Please help me. I can’t stand to have my hard drive wiped again.
Um..You dont really give me a specific answer..Just download two programs..That’s all I understand
It didn’t "shut down". My trial expired..
I have it installed, and I renamed the malware antivirus protection, but it wont open..

DON’T PAY FOR THE ANTI-VIRUS PROGRAM BEING OFFERED TO YOU. IT’S A SCAM! Your computer is definitely infected by malware already. Can you still download programs from the internet? If so, get Malwarebytes’ Anti-Malware. Rename the file to something else like x.exe and then run it. After installation, scan your computer to remove that malware.

Take note: You will need to rename the MBAM program to something else before you can run it because the malware that you have knows about MBAM and it will prevent you from installing it. If you can’t do this in normal mode, boot to safe mode and do the installation and scanning from there.

Simple, you were playing with fire and ya got burned.

How does an Anti Virus shut down and you do NOT download another?

You have left your Lappy open to all kinds of crap.

All that phoney stuff with pop-ups (why isn’t your browser set to NOT allow pop-ups?) and that other junk is:

PHISHING

You happened to get poorly written scams.

Let’s fix your problem.
Download Anti Virus programs from CNET.com, (as many as your heart desires).
Get other good stuff too.
Run ‘em all.
Keep a couple ya like.
Keep at least one active ALL THE TIME.
Learn about bug protection.
Subscribe to CNET newsletters of your choice.
Learn how PCs work.
Also download ‘TeckTracker’ from them to keep your drivers up to date and new versions of software you have on the HDD (Hard Disk Drive).

Oh yeah, they’re all FREE.

You really should get an anti virus, without it you are asking for trouble.

Luckily you do not need to buy one, there are free ones available, visit download.com then navigate to anti viruses to get something like AVG or Avast. They offer free protection without the likes of malware protection.

For free malware protection there are also free options, again, same site look for this.

Do not get and run two anti viruses like someone else said (they conflict with each other) but you can run more than one malware software. For free firewalls I go with Outpost.

You can always download one month trials for internet protection or protection suites to test them out and they are generally better than the freebies and I suggest you do this, though I don’t myself :0.

For a full suite of software try Esset’s at around a few bucks more than a lot of anti virus packages.

If you have in the past been not buying protection for your computer whereas buying games and so on for a similar price you really had no excuse and this is pretty much what you get, but like I said there are free options that work extremely well.
